Common questions
How is my daily number worked out?
The app takes your income, subtracts your bills and what you said you want to save, and divides what's genuinely left by the days of the month. That gives you a daily pace — your spending target.
Each morning it then works out what today is worth: everything still left for the month, shared across the days that remain. That's the number on your screen, and it counts down as you log expenses.
So spend less than it today and tomorrow's number is higher. Spend more and it's lower. Either way it resets overnight, which is why a bad day stays a bad day instead of turning into a bad week.
Your spending target doesn't move — it's the pace you set. The daily number sits above or below it depending on how the month has gone so far.
Can my partner and I share a budget?
Yes — sign in on both phones with the same email and password. Both phones then see the same budget, and an expense logged on one shows up on the other. There's nothing extra to buy, and no invite to send.
Bear in mind that anyone with your login can change or delete the budget, so only share it with someone you trust that far.
My partner logged something and I can't see it
The app syncs while it's open, so a phone whose app has been closed picks up the changes the next time you open it. If it still looks wrong, switch away from the app and back, and check that both phones are signed in to the same account under Settings → Profile.
My widget is showing an old number
Widgets are refreshed by iOS on its own schedule, not on demand. If the data behind it is more than a few hours old, the widget says "as of" and the time, so you know it's not fresh. Opening the app updates it. If a widget stays stuck, remove it from your home screen and add it again.
I forgot my password
On the sign-in screen, type your email address, then tap Forgot password?. A reset link is emailed to you. If it doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder — it comes from a firebaseapp.com address.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, and choose My Daily Dollar. You can also open your subscriptions directly.
If you're in the 7-day free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends and you won't be charged. Cancelling stops the renewal — you keep PRO until the period you've paid for runs out.
I paid, but PRO isn't showing
Open the upgrade screen in the app and tap Restore purchases. That asks Apple for the subscriptions your Apple Account owns and switches PRO back on. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple Account you bought it with — subscriptions belong to an Apple Account, not to a My Daily Dollar account.
Still nothing? Email us with the date of purchase and we'll sort it out.
Do I need PRO?
No. Your daily number, what tomorrow resets at, logging expenses, the calendar, savings and goals, the month-end wrap-up, reminders and widgets are all free, with no ads and no time limit. PRO adds the month ahead — days left, your pace, where the month lands and what you're carrying — plus your running total on the calendar and your widget, spending insights by category, optional categories when you log, the debt payoff planner and the month-to-month trend.
One PRO subscription covers everyone signed in to the same My Daily Dollar account, so a couple sharing a budget only needs one.
How do I ask for a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, and choose the purchase. We aren't able to issue refunds ourselves.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings → Profile → Delete account. That permanently removes your account, your budget, your expenses and your history, from our servers and from your phone. It can't be undone, and if you share your login with a partner, it's deleted for them too.
Deleting the app from your phone doesn't delete your account. If you can't sign in to delete it yourself, email us and we'll do it for you.
Is my financial data safe?
The app never connects to your bank — everything in it is information you typed in yourself. It has no ads, no analytics and no tracking. The full details are in our privacy policy.
Something else
Feature requests and complaints are both welcome. If you've hit a bug, we'd rather hear about it than have you delete the app — write to support@dailydollar-app.com.
